YL Freedom Walk Malawi Devotions: Day 9

Our Walk Is a Cry

Psalm 146:5-8 “blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, who made the heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down the Lord loves the righteous.”

Psalm 146 begins with exposing something we are already aware of, our lives as human beings are feeble and there is only so much we can do and plan for but once we die our plans perish. And because of that our weakness we are not worthy of trust, on our own we cannot bring freedom, on our own we are walking aimlessly. But to us every step that we will take on July 12 is not just a step in is a cry, a cry to a God who saves and has the power to set us free.

Our hope is in the LORD and Him alone, we trust him to set this country and our young people free from all the things we are bound to. We do not rely on our ability to walk or to pray loud or our vain ability to share the Gospel eloquently but in God alone.

Though this walk is the first of its kind for Young Life Malawi, we have seen God do it over and over again in the Old Testament and even in our lives, our God and never failed us and will never fail us. Have you trusted HIM?

Pray For: Freedom in the country and Africa

That our hearts should trust in the Lord fully and for freedom from all that prevents us from trusting him wholly.
