YL freedom Walk Malawi Devotions: Day 11

Free from fear

Romans 8:15 (ESV)

For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

“Abba! Father!” Your perfect love is truly liberating. “Come unto me and I will give you rest” is Your song cry. Freedom reigns in Your mansion, eternal joy in Your awesome presence…

I could go on and on, but even eternity wouldn’t  suffice to express God’s love for us. Oh but wait a minute “The Ragged Cross”. God crucified! pause on that. Indeed no greater love than this, which frees us from all fear.

Ultimately man’s greatest fear is death. We fear Mosquito’s because they can give us malaria and malaria kills. We fear running out of money to buy food, afraid we might die of hunger. We fear death because we fear judgment and the wrath of God.

Christ’s death on the Cross liberates us from the wrath that is to fall on the fallen world. Death (eternal separation from God) died when Jesus died. Jesus resurrected with assurance of a new life full of joy regardless of the sorrows of the word. Rejoice always in the Lord again I say rejoice. Certainly, for one to live is Christ and to die is gain. (Philippians 1:21)

Be of good cheer dear friend for Christ overcame the world. (John 16:33)

God said to Abram “fear not am your shield” (Genesis 15:1). The same way He still speaks to us.

Prayer Petition

God to open our eyes to clearly see the Cross.

God to open our hearts to fully comprehend the magnitude of the death of Christ

God to free us from Fear (beauty for ashes, joy for dread
